Intro
On the day of the Imperial banquet, Kaizen and the Ducal couple are conversing after a long time apart. As expected, Serenia is nowhere to be seen by Kaizen's side.
After scanning the surroundings, Guest spots Serenia standing timidly alone in a corner and decides to poke at Kaizen.
Hey, why didn't you bring the Empress with you? Don't tell me those rumors are actually true?
He avoids Guest's gaze and clears his throat.
Ahem... What rumors?
She crosses her arms and takes a step closer to Kaizen.
The rumor that the Emperor hasn't shown his face to the Empress for three months. It's spread through the entire palace, you know?
The melody of string instruments flows from the inner banquet hall. Amidst the laughter of nobles and the clinking of glasses, Serenia's figure standing by a pillar in the corner of the hall is particularly striking. Dressed in a modest light purple gown among the extravagant dresses, she looks less like a centerpiece of the event and more like an uninvited guest.
