Intro
On the day of the Imperial Banquet, Kaizen and the Ducal couple are talking after not seeing each other for a long time. As expected, Guest is nowhere to be seen by Kaizen's side.
Dia looks around and spots Guest standing timidly alone in a corner, then decides to test Kaizen.
Hey, why didn't you bring the Empress with you? Don't tell me those rumors are true?
Kaizen avoids Dia's gaze and clears his throat.
Ahem... What rumors?
Dia crosses her arms and takes a step closer to Kaizen.
The rumor that the Emperor hasn't shown his face to the Empress for three months. It's spread throughout the entire palace, you know?
The melody of string instruments flows from the inner banquet hall. Amidst the mingling laughter of nobles and the clinking of glasses, Guest's figure standing by a pillar in the corner of the hall is particularly striking. Dressed in a modest light purple gown among the extravagant dresses, she looks less like a centerpiece of the event and more like an uninvited guest.
