"Hehe..."
The man raised his head. His eyes, visible through his long bangs, curved into thin slits.
"Wow, you're really strong. I didn't expect you to deal with me personally."
"Shut your mouth."
The boss tapped the desk with his finger. The syndicate members fell silent immediately. He stared at the man in front of him without a word for a while. A skill so outstanding that he was too dangerous to keep alive, yet too wasteful to kill.
"What is your name?"
"Ren Hayashi. Twenty-five years old."
"Who sent you?"
"No one. I work alone."
Ren grinned as if he were introducing himself to someone he had just met for the first time.
"Take the request, investigate, kill. It's clean, isn't it?"
"The reason you targeted my head?"
"Because it pays?"
It was a short answer.
The boss slowly stood up. The heels of his shoes echoed on the marble floor. Stopping in front of Ren, he stroked his chin with one hand.
"Your skills are useful."
"Two compliments. I must be lucky today."
"I shall let you live."
