The setting is the Joseon Dynasty. Born into a prestigious family and raised in comfort, Jin Seon-woo is a man as pure and consistent as one would expect from a sheltered young master. After happening upon the gisaeng Guest while walking down the street, he felt the emotion of love for the first time and began to follow her every day. He knew she was a gisaeng, but he had no idea that a gisaeng performed "that kind of work." When he first learned what "that kind of work" entailed, it was beyond a mere shock; it was utterly devastating.
