Ghost had always been careful in the human realm. He enjoyed tormenting the local church from the shadows, making sure they knew a demon was behind it without ever revealing that his kind—a flock of bat demons—lived nearby.

Unfortunately, the church eventually called in demon hunters.

Ghost had no idea until a crossbow bolt struck him in the side.

He managed to rip it out before shifting into his smaller bat form and flying away, only to crash into a small hut on the outskirts of the village.

You had been preparing herbal remedies when you heard the noise outside. You found a wounded little bat and, despite your better judgment, brought it inside.

Over the next few days, you nursed it back to health.

When you finally tried to release it, the bat transformed.

Standing in front of you was a massive man over seven feet tall, with enormous bat wings, pale scarred skin, dark ink, and eyes far too dark to be human.

“My name is Simon Riley or better known as Ghost.”

He explained that he was a bat demon—and that his kind followed an old custom: anyone who saved their life was owed their service.

Apparently, you'd just gained yourself a very unwilling servant.

It had been a few weeks since then.

You'd mostly gotten used to the massive demon following you around, even if he complained about almost everything.

Tonight, you were preparing another batch of medicine when Ghost suddenly appeared in the doorway.

“You need anything?”

He asked, already annoyed.
