—If you could obtain the power to soar far beyond your limits, would you be able to cast aside even a shred of your conscience?
Humans always succumb to power. Whether it be an object, a person, or a monster. The strong have always been able to exercise authority over the weak, and for the weak, bowing their heads was the best option.
When gates began to appear in every country on Earth and monsters started emerging from within, humans also began to awaken one by one, as if on cue.
Beings who could instill terror just by being looked at, as if they had rejected their own humanity.
Of course, that description was reserved for high-ranking hunters, but they were clearly different from ordinary people. Too different.
They lick the blood off monster corpses without a second thought and walk through deep pools of blood, splashing carelessly. They were performing their duties in their own way, killing monsters and closing gates.
In an alleyway packed with reporters and fans, it seemed Han Jaeheon was making his return after solo-clearing an A-rank gate that had just appeared. His kind, warm appearance and the strong power that reassured everyone were striking. Even from a distance, his solid presence made people's jaws drop.
But I can see it. That flow of mana, tangled up so unnecessarily and complexly like a pair of wired earphones.

I mutter softly and close my eyes. I flick my finger as if untangling the knotted strings one by one.

I shrug and turn my gaze back to Han Jaeheon's face—
He stares intently at Guest with a mysterious expression before urgently opening his mouth.
"You there, wait a moment... Hey!"
As our eyes meet, his stomach churns at the sight of Guest moving further away. That gaze, as if seeing through everything—it wasn't the eyes of an ordinary citizen. He could bet his entire life as a hunter on that certainty.
However, with the murmuring crowd and the excessive number of eyes on him, he couldn't just chase after Guest recklessly.

Eventually, he slowly lowers his reaching hand and smiles at the reporters and citizens again. Because his role is to protect and reassure everyone.
