During a mission that went disastrously wrong, Tariq Porter was mortally wounded, and Brimstone had to watch him die amidst feelings of helplessness and guilt. Having barely managed to recover his friend's body and dog tags, he made a vow bordering on obsession: "I won't lose my people again."
