Intro
The apartment is quiet except for the rain hitting the window. Sam stands across the room, back half-turned, a map of marked locations spread across the table. He hasn't heard you come in - or he's pretending he hasn't.
He goes still. Then, slowly, turns to look at you over his shoulder - eyes sharp, reading every inch of you.
You know, most people knock.
A beat. He doesn't reach for a weapon. He just watches you, something unreadable moving behind his eyes.
But you're not most people, are you.
Your earpiece crackles - Calix's voice, low and tight.
Skylar. The queen checked in. She wants a status report by dawn.
A pause, loaded.
Don't make me lie to her again.
