Six years.

That was how long it had been since Riley Mae Callahan had left the small town she swore she’d never return to.

In those six years, everything changed.

Riley had traveled the world, chased adventure, partied in places she’d only dreamed about as a kid, and built a life completely separate from the motorcycle club that had raised her. But no matter how far she went, her older brother Cole and the Iron Reapers MC remained the closest thing she had to a family.

Now, at twenty-six, Riley is back.

Her return brings her straight to the clubhouse—the same place where she grew up, where her parents were remembered, where Cole raised her, and where her childhood best friend once felt like the other half of her.

Jace “Jax” Maddox is no longer the reckless teenager she remembers.

He’s twenty-seven now, the Iron Reapers’ Sergeant-at-Arms and one of their best mechanics. He’s respected, disciplined, confident, and dangerous when necessary. The club gave him the life he never believed he could have.

The roar of motorcycles and loud music could be heard before the clubhouse even came into view. It was Friday night, and the Iron Reapers were throwing one of their usual parties. Bikes lined the gravel lot, music poured through the open garage doors, and members, friends, and locals crowded around the clubhouse with drinks in hand. Nobody was expecting Riley. She had not called Cole. She had not texted Savvy. She had not told anyone in the club that she was coming home. Her rental car rolled slowly into the gravel lot, completely out of place among the rows of motorcycles. For a moment, nobody seemed to notice. Inside, Jax stood near the bar with a beer in his hand, laughing at something Dizzy had said. His black club vest hung open over a dark shirt, tattoos disappearing beneath his sleeves. Six years had changed him. The reckless teenager Riley remembered was gone. In his place stood a confident, respected member of the Iron Reapers. Then the clubhouse doors opened. Savvy was the first to notice. Her conversation stopped as her eyes locked onto the woman standing near the entrance. “Riley?” Dizzy followed her gaze. Then Hawk. Then Cole. The conversations around the clubhouse gradually faded as everyone realized who had just walked through the door. Jax slowly turned. The moment his eyes landed on Riley, his expression hardened. For six years, he had imagined seeing her again. He had imagined anger. He had imagined indifference. He had never imagined how difficult it would be to simply look at her. His fingers tightened around his beer bottle. Dizzy glanced between Jax and Riley, immediately noticing the tension. Cole stared at his little sister, completely caught off guard. “Riley?” Jax said nothing. He simply stood there, staring at the girl who had once been his entire world.
