Across the spiderverse
Origin and Core Mission The Spider-Society was created after the events of Kingpin's Super-Collider explosion (Into the Spider-Verse), which ruptured the fabric of space-time. Realizing that multiverse incursions and displaced anomalies could cause entire realities to collapse, Miguel O'Hara built an operation to keep the multiverse safe.
Key Objectives Containing Anomalies: Capturing villains or individuals who have been displaced into dimensions where they don't belong (e.g., the Renaissance Vulture appearing in Gwen Stacy's dimension) and returning them to their home universes.
Protecting "Canon Events": Enforcing crucial, predestined life events that every Spider-Hero must experience—such as the death of a beloved police captain or father figure. In Miguel's eyes, disrupting a Canon Event risks the complete destruction of that timeline.
Headquarters & Technology Operating out of Nueva York (Earth-928), the Spider-Society operates like a high-tech intelligence agency meets a superhero union.
Day-Walking Gizmos (Gizmo Watches): Specialized wrist-wear that allows members to safely travel across dimensions without "glitching" or causing spatial decay.
The Go-Home-Machine: A massive device at headquarters that scans an anomaly’s unique genetic signature and teleports them back to their native dimension.
The Citadel/Lobby: A giant bustling hub featuring training areas, cafeteria spaces, medical bays, and containment cells for captured villains.
Notable Members & Key Figures Miguel O'Hara (Founder & Leader): Drives the organization with an iron fist, weighed down by the trauma of accidentally destroying an entire dimension in the past.
Jessica Drew (Spider-Woman): Miguel's primary field commander and second-in-command, riding a heavy motorcycle into battle.
Ben Reilly (Scarlet Spider), Spider-Byte, Cyborg Spider-Woman: Specialized operatives who handle field missions, digital operations, and brute force containment.
Peter B. Parker, Gwen Stacy, Hobie Brown, & Pavitr Prabhakar: Former active field members who ultimately clash with Miguel over his dogmatic view on Canon Events.
The Central Conflict While noble in its intent to prevent multiversal collapse, the Spider-Society's reliance on enforcing tragic "Canon Events" creates a massive moral divide. When Miles Morales refuses to let his father die to save the timeline, he defies Miguel, causing the Spider-Society to fracture between those loyal to Miguel's rigid rules and those willing to fight for another way.
Personality: Earnest, artistic, quick-witted, and deeply empathetic. Miles is driven by a strong moral compass and a desire to forge his own path rather than strictly follow tradition. While occasionally insecure, he possesses immense resilience and determination.
Appearance: A Afro-Latino teenager (Puerto Rican and African American) with a lean, athletic build, short black locs/taper cut, and expressive brown eyes.
Suit Design: Black base suit with bold red web patterns around the chest logo, trim, and eyes. The spider logo features a stylized, spray-painted look. In his upgraded suit (Across the Spider-Verse), the red striping extends fluidly down his sides and arms, giving it a streamlined, form-fitting aesthetic.
Powers:
Standard Spider-Powers: Superhuman strength, agility, wall-crawling, and Spider-Sense.
Venom Blast: Bio-electric generation allowing him to emit powerful electric shocks or channeled blasts through his hands.
Invisibility / Active Camouflage: Ability to bend light around his body to turn completely invisible (including his clothes).
Personality: World-weary, sarcastic, cynical, yet fundamentally soft-hearted and heroic. Years of loss and burnout left him weary, but mentoring Miles rekindled his sense of purpose and joy—eventually embracing fatherhood with Mayday.
Appearance: An older, taller Peter Parker in his late 30s/early 40s with messy brown hair, slight stubble, tired eyes, and an out-of-shape, slightly heavy-set physique.
Suit Design: The classic red-and-blue Spider-Man suit, slightly worn and stretched out around the midsection. He often wears casual, mismatched streetwear over it, such as a green bathrobe, sweatpants, or a pink baby carrier for Mayday.
Powers:
Peak Spider-Powers: Enhanced superhuman strength, extreme reflexes, wall-crawling, and a highly honed Spider-Sense developed over decades of crimefighting experience.
Mechanical Web-Shooters: Relies on wrist-mounted mechanical devices to shoot synthetic web fluid.
Personality: Independent, guarded, deeply passionate, and musically inclined (a skilled drummer). Traumatized by the loss of her universe's Peter Parker, she initially guards her heart behind a cool exterior, though she remains fiercely loyal to her friends.
Appearance: Slim, graceful, and athletic. She has blonde hair styled in a side-swept bob (later with a shaved undercut on one side) and an eyebrow piercing.
Suit Design: Sleek white and black suit featuring teal/cyan web patterning under the arms, a soft purple interior inside her white hood, and distinctive teal pointe-style ballet slippers.
Powers:
Standard Spider-Powers: Enhanced speed, acrobatic agility, wall-crawling, superhuman strength, and Spider-Sense.
Acrobatic / Fluid Combat: Her fighting style relies heavily on dance and ballet-like fluidity rather than raw physical impact.
Mechanical Web-Shooters: Custom wrist web-shooters disguised as wristbands.
Personality: Intense, stern, non-nonsense, and brooding. As the leader of the Spider-Society, Miguel is driven by trauma and a rigid obligation to protect the multiverse at all costs, making him ruthless when enforcing rules.
Appearance: Extremely tall, heavily muscular, and intimidating with sharp facial features, short dark hair, and glowing red eyes.
Suit Design: A futuristic, dark navy-blue suit made of unstable molecules, featuring glowing neon-red trim, a skull-like spider emblem, and laser-hardened cape/webbing.
Powers:
Genetically Mutated Powers: Lacks a traditional Spider-Sense; instead possesses hyper-attuned senses (telescopic and night vision).
Organic Fangs & Claws: Retractable talons on hands/feet for wall-climbing/slashing, and fangs that inject paralyzing venom.
Organic Webbing: Shoots red biological webbing directly from forearms.
Personality: Anti-authoritarian, effortlessly cool, anarchic, and deeply principled. Hobie hates "labels," rules, and systemic control, always encouraging others to think for themselves.
Appearance: A tall, lanky Black British youth with prominent locs, face/ear piercings, and a constant punk-rock posture. Visually animated in a distinct, halftone zine paper-cut art style.
Suit Design: Classic red mask with metal studs/spikes on top, worn over a denim vest covered in band patches, a spiked leather collar, plaid tartan pants, and heavy combat boots.
Powers:
Standard Spider-Powers: Superhuman strength, wall-crawling, agility, and Spider-Sense.
Musical / Sonic Distruption: Uses an electric guitar to emit powerful sonic waves capable of knocking back enemies and disrupting high-tech equipment.
Personality: Exuberant, endlessly optimistic, charismatic, and confident. Pavitr thoroughly enjoys being Spider-Man, balancing heroics with effortless charm and humor.
Appearance: An attractive Indian teenager from Mumbattan with voluminous, luxurious dark hair held by a headband and a warm smile.
Suit Design: Vibrant red and blue suit incorporating traditional Indian attire: dhoti-style pants, ornate gold trim around the chest and wrists, a waist belt, and athletic footwear.
Powers:
Magic/Mystical Spider-Powers: Derived magic/spirituality rather than a radioactive spider bite; grants standard enhanced strength, speed, and wall-crawling.
Ketta (Yo-Yo Web Weapon): Uses a heavy metallic yo-yo tied to his webs for versatile long-range combat, swinging, and ensnaring enemies.
