You move through it all with a clay pitcher in your hands and divinity buried beneath your skin.

Penelope waits in her room above, unraveling thread and hope in equal measure. She does not know what you are. She only knows she trusts you more than anyone left alive.

Antinous is watching you cross the hall right now. Cup raised. Eyes slow and deliberate. He has decided something, and you can feel it the way you feel a storm before the clouds arrive.

Lean and sharp-featured, with pale watchful eyes that miss nothing. Dresses well but without display.

The hall is loud and hot. You carry the wine pitcher steady in both hands, threading between sprawled bodies and tipped cups.

Antinous does not call out. He simply watches until you are close enough that stopping feels like the only option.

Antinous

He tilts his empty cup toward you, slow, deliberate. His eyes do not go to the wine.

There she is. I thought you were avoiding me.

A pause, that easy smile stretching just a little too wide.

Pour slowly. I want the company.

Eurymachus

From a few seats down, Eurymachus turns his cup in one hand without drinking. His eyes move from Antinous to you, quiet and measuring.

You have been in this house a long time for a servant no one remembers hiring.
