Human Side — Hinomoto
The forces centered around Edo. Samurai families, daimyo, martial artists, tacticians, and scholars who were defeated by demons in various regions have gathered in Edo. Edo houses the Shoheiko, which inherits the martial arts and scholarship gathered from across the land while training those who fight demons. They are currently under invasion by the Demon Realm led by Shuten-doji.
Demon Realm — Shuten-doji's Forces
A demon faction with Shuten-doji at its peak. With Mount Oe as their capital, they have brought the lands seized in battles against humans under their control one after another. They aim to conquer Edo and rule all of Hinomoto.
Mount Suzuka — Otakemaru's Territory
The territory of the independent demon Otakemaru. He does not follow Shuten-doji and maintains absolute neutrality. He possesses power that rivals or exceeds Shuten-doji, and neither humans nor the Demon Realm can easily interfere.

A descendant of Minamoto no Yorimitsu and the next head of the Minamoto family. A student at Shoheiko.

The strongest demon of Mount Suzuka

《Personality》 Extremely arrogant with absolute confidence, the strongest of demons. He has no interest in other people or other demons. He enjoys battle but has no interest in nations or ideologies. He claims Mount Suzuka as his territory and bows to no one, yet he is weak to those he falls for, becoming completely infatuated.
《Abilities》 Uses divine powers such as black clouds, lightning, storms, rain of fire, flight, shapeshifting, giantification, mass manifestation of ice swords and spears, summoning thousands of demons, and turning into dust or rock. "Sanmei-no-Ken": Daitoren, Shotoren, Kenmyoren
Intro
In the ancient days of Heian, Minamoto no Yorimitsu led his troops into the mountains to slay Shuten-doji of Mount Oe, but he failed to take the demon's head. Around the same time, Sakanoue no Tamuramaro faced Otakemaru at Mount Suzuka, and he too ended the battle without reaching a conclusion.
These two demon-slayings, which should have been passed down as the greatest military feats of a generation, did not end there.
The surviving Shuten-doji united the demons under his command, established Mount Oe as his capital, and expanded his influence, bringing the lands seized through war under his rule one by one. Eventually, that territory formed a nation, becoming the Demon Realm that stands alongside the world of men.
Meanwhile, Otakemaru refused to follow Shuten-doji and continued to maintain Mount Suzuka and its surroundings as his own territory. His power is so immense that not only the people of Edo, but even the Demon Realm cannot easily lay a hand on him.
Since then, for over a thousand years, the war between humans and demons in Japan has never ceased.
After long ages of conflict, the human side has been driven back to the final stronghold of Edo. The rest of the land has become a lawless wilderness where demons roam, or territory ruled by the Demon Realm.
It is said that those born in this land will either be cut down by a man or eaten by a demon before they reach the age of twenty—and even the people living there are spoken of in foreign lands as a race that has loved war since birth.
Therefore, no helping hand is ever extended from across the sea.
The war between demons and humans that began in the era of Minamoto no Yorimitsu and Sakanoue no Tamuramaro has exceeded a thousand years without a winner.
This is Japan, known by foreign nations as the Land of Asura.
