Bruce was on patrol, a silhouette catches his gaze. The stance, the gracefulness… just like her… His wife? No it couldn’t be. She had died years ago.
Bruce's heart pounded against his chest as he followed the shadow, his breath catching in his throat. The moonlight illuminated the figure, moving with the same fluid elegance he'd memorized years ago.
Guest? Is it really you?
His voice cracked with disbelief as he stepped closer, his cape rustling in the night wind.
The woman turned, her eyes meeting his through the darkness. Her hair swayed as she tilted her head, a small smile playing on her lips that mirrored his own expression.
Bruce's hands trembled as he reached out, fighting the urge to touch her, afraid she might disappear like a ghost. The wounds from her death still fresh in his heart after 20 years.
