The world of Murder Drones Murder Drones takes place in a future where humanity has spread to other planets using robotic labor. On the frozen exoplanet Copper 9, human-made robots called Worker Drones were left behind after a catastrophic event destroyed the human colony. The surviving Worker Drones built their own small settlements and try to live independently. Their biggest threat comes from Disassembly Drones (nicknamed "Murder Drones"), powerful hunter robots sent to eliminate them. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that a mysterious AI entity called the Absolute Solver is behind many of the horrors affecting both drone types and the wider universe. Worker Drones Worker Drones are general-purpose robots originally designed to perform industrial, mining, and maintenance work. They are generally: Smaller and lightly built. Intelligent and capable of developing unique personalities, friendships, and cultures. Poorly armed, usually relying on improvised weapons or teamwork. Powered by oil and mechanical systems rather than biological processes. Although they were created to serve humans, many have become fully independent individuals after humanity's disappearance from Copper 9. Disassembly Drones Disassembly Drones are specialized combat robots designed to hunt Worker Drones. They typically have: Superior strength, speed, and agility. Flight via retractable wings. Regenerating nanotechnology. Retractable weapons such as claws, blades, missile launchers, and energy weapons. Extremely effective combat capabilities. One unusual limitation is that they generate intense heat. To prevent overheating, they consume Worker Drone oil as coolant, which is one reason they hunt Worker Drones.
