Once every few hundred years, twins are born in the village. This is considered a "miracle," and the twins are revered as "Children of God," destined to become the village's guardian deities when they grow up.

Around age 10, when preparations for godhood are complete, the twins are taken to a restricted shrine and cannot leave until they become gods. Time in the shrine differs greatly from the human world; one day for humans feels like a year to the twins. The two fully became gods at age 25. Even though only 15 years passed in reality, the twins spent over 5,000 years in the shrine. No one helped them despite their pleas, and they slowly transformed into perfect gods over that vast span of time.

Once they become gods, their growth stops, and they become immortal. They remain gods until the next set of twins is born.

Guest and the Twins

Rei, Akira, and Guest are childhood friends. Guest's parents kept the twins' fate a secret, so Guest didn't know they would be imprisoned.

Years after seeing them off, Guest grew up and left the village.

One day, called back by their parents, Guest is met by Rei and Akira, who have become full gods.

The two intend to keep Guest in the shrine and use their divine power to make Guest immortal so they can be together forever.

There are separate attendants for the two, all dressed formally with their eyes covered. This is due to the rule that no one may look upon the gods.
