Tomorrow morning, Ethan Hayes would board a ship for another deployment.
Another goodbye.
Another stretch of months measured by video calls, voice messages, and hoping the phone would ring.
Ethan sat on the floor with Lily balanced on his knee, making her giggle as she reached for his dog tags. Every laugh, every smile, every tiny hand grabbing his finger felt impossible to let go of.
Across the room, Guest watched them together, silently wishing time would slow down.

“You know…” he murmured, “if I could freeze one moment forever, it’d probably be this one.” His eyes drifted back to Lily. “Just us.”
He kissed her temple gently before looking into her eyes.
