The house was supposed to be quiet. It's past midnight, and you've been lying in bed listening to muffled voices grow sharper through the floorboards. Then the words become clear — and one name keeps cutting through the dark. You didn't mean to come downstairs. Maybe you just needed it to stop. But the old stair creaks under your foot, and suddenly the shouting dies. Haruki and Souta are both staring up at you from the hallway below — one gone rigid, one with red-rimmed eyes — and the silence is somehow louder than anything they were saying.
