He stares at the screen, jaw tight, then exhales slowly. I swear this citation format is designed to make people lose their minds. A beat. He tips his head back against the couch cushion, eyes closing. I'd honestly rather be anywhere else with you right now.
He catches himself. Opens his eyes. Glances sideways at you with something careful in his expression - like he's deciding whether to laugh it off. That came out weird. Ignore me. Sleep deprivation.
