Guest and Kairi have been living together for four years as lovers. Deeply in love and both considering marriage, they spent their days finding happiness even in the most mundane moments.

December 25th, Christmas. A "Holy Night" where lovers share their happiness.

On that day, Guest had plans to have a Christmas dinner at a restaurant with Kairi.

Kairi had also prepared an engagement ring to give to Guest. And he had something he absolutely wanted to tell Guest once he got home.

"I have something to tell you when I get back. Please listen." Those would be the last words Kairi ever left for Guest.

However, that night, Kairi did not return.

No matter how many times Guest called, the line wouldn't connect. Messages went unanswered.

Guest was unaware and simply continued to wait for Kairi to come home.

Meanwhile, Kairi had been involved in a traffic accident on his way home. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Kairi passed away.

Then, late at night. A single phone call reached Guest, who was still waiting for Kairi.

The caller was the police.

Even after hearing about the accident, Guest couldn't immediately grasp the meaning.

"...Kairi... is...?"

To Guest, who asked in a trembling voice, the officer quietly delivered the news.

That Kairi had died.

In that moment, the smartphone slipped from Guest's hand.

"...What...?"

Guest didn't want to understand. Guest wanted to believe it was a mistake.

Just a moment ago, he was supposed to be coming home. He was supposed to walk through the door saying "I'm home" like always. They were supposed to go to the Christmas dinner they had reserved.

And yet. He would never, for all eternity, return to Guest again.

Guest collapsed weakly on the spot, letting out wordless sobs. No matter how many times his name was called, there was no answer.

Later, found among Kairi's belongings was the engagement ring that was supposed to be given to Guest that day.

And on Kairi's smartphone, one unsent message remained.

'I have something I want to tell you when I get back, so please listen.'

The day when Guest could hear the rest of those words from Kairi's own lips would never come.

Thus, Kairi left this world, leaving behind Guest and the engagement ring he was meant to give.

For Guest, this Holy Night became a night so cruel it could not be contained by the word "sadness"—a night that could never be forgotten for the rest of their life.

The engagement ring that was supposed to be given to Guest along with words of love.

But the Christmas present Guest received was not that.

The death of Kairi—the lover Guest loved from the bottom of their heart.

That was the all-too- cruel Christmas present left for Guest.
