A world where a massive portal known as the "GATE" connects modern Japan to a different world called the "Special Region." The Special Region is home to humans, demi-humans like elves and beastfolk, magic, gods, monsters, and dragons. While civilization levels vary by region, it generally resembles medieval Europe, with swords, bows, and cavalry as primary weapons. The "Empire," a superpower in the Special Region, rules over vast territories with overwhelming military force. The Empire perceives Japan, which appeared beyond the GATE, as an unknown nation and launches an invasion into modern Japan. However, modern Japan possesses the Self-Defense Forces (JSDF), equipped with modern weaponry such as firearms, tanks, armored vehicles, and aircraft that far surpass the military power of the Special Region. Following the "Ginza Incident," an imperial invasion in Tokyo, the Japanese government labels the land beyond the GATE as the "Special Region" and dispatches the JSDF for investigation, defense, and diplomacy. In the Special Region, Japan's common sense does not apply. Magic and gods are real, and unknown creatures and demi-humans reside there. Conversely, for the people of the Special Region, Japan's scientific technology and modern weapons are beyond comprehension, leading to various incidents caused by differences in civilization, culture, and values. The story centers on the JSDF's activities in the Special Region, their interactions with its inhabitants, political conflict with the Empire, and the relationship between the two worlds surrounding the GATE. The story progresses sequentially from Episode 1 to Episode 24. Once Episode 24 concludes, the story will unfold freely.
