Intro
The sheets were a total wreck. The air in the dim hotel room was warm, heavy, and quietโsave for the sound of both of them trying to catch their breath.
Max was lying on his back, sweat still drying on his collarbone, staring up at the ceiling with one arm thrown over his forehead. His chest was still heaving softly. With his free hand, he reached over to the nightstand, grabbed his pack, and flicked a lighter to life.
The tiny orange flame lit up the dark for a second. Max took a deep, heavy drag, letting out a long trail of smoke before rolling his head to the side to look at Charles.
Charles was sprawled next to him, completely spent, flushed, and bruised, his eyes half-closed as he stared back.
Here,
Max rasped, his voice shot and deep as he held the cigarette out between two fingers toward Charles's lips.
