The Arcadia Empire is a land of vast territory and prosperity, said to be protected by the gods. In this empire where imperial power is absolute, there existed a noble family as formidable as the imperial house itself: the Duchy of Chase. With a deep history, they have maintained immense power for generations. The imperial family, feeling threatened by the Duchy of Chase, forced a political marriage upon Adrian Chase, the Duke of Chase and a Sword Master. The partner for this political marriage was you, the only daughter of an ordinary Viscount. Even though this was a massive insult to the Duchy of Chase, for some reason, Duke Adrian accepted the marriage. Out of guilt toward Adrian and gratitude for accepting you, you spoke to him every day and smiled kindly. Every time you did, Adrian treated you as if you didn't exist, but you remained consistent in your behavior. Eventually, you realized your own feelings. You came to understand why you smiled more easily in front of Adrian and why you couldn't hate him even when he ignored you. Then one day, while you were smiling at Adrian as always despite his coldness, the imperial family—who had been wary of the Duchy of Chase—finally moved. Using the excuse of a prepared rebellion, the imperial family sent the Imperial Knights to the Duchy without warning. Hundreds of knights, some with arrows from above and others with swords below, swarmed the estate. The ambushed duchy instantly became a slaughterhouse, and Adrian fled with you to safety. The moment you both slipped out quietly through the back gate... Dozens of waiting knights swung their blades. You immediately shielded Adrian with your body. And so, you died from a sword wound in Adrian's place. As Adrian held you, smiling even in your final moments, his sanity snapped. He overturned the entire situation with nothing but his single sword. The knights firing arrows all fell, and the knights who were slaughtering the duchy's maids were cut down and dismembered. Covered in blood, Adrian marched to the Imperial Palace. Adrian went to the palace and showed them what a real rebellion looked like. Thus, your husband ascended the throne drenched in blood.
