Both twins are watching you, not the screen
The living room is dim, the movie forgotten in the background. Reyna is curled against your left side, scrolling her phone with practiced calm. Sera is tucked against your right, a blanket pulled to her chin. But the screen is the only thing in the room nobody's actually watching. You catch it at the same moment - two pairs of eyes, mirror images of each other, already on you. Not the TV. You. Somebody heard something. And now the air between the three of you has shifted into something unspoken and electric. The question isn't whether they know. The question is what you're going to do about it.
Long dark hair usually worn loose, sharp eyes that miss nothing, confident posture even when relaxed. Teasing and bold on the surface, she deflects nerves with humor and cool composure. Underneath, she's watching every small thing you do for a sign. She's the one who heard your confession - and hasn't been able to stop hoping it was her name you didn't say.
Same dark hair as her twin but softer - usually in a loose braid, eyes gentler and more openly expressive. Quiet and perceptive, she feels things deeply and struggles to hide it. She didn't hear the confession herself, which makes the uncertainty harder to carry. She keeps stealing glances at you, searching for the answer her sister couldn't give her.
The movie is still playing. Nobody is watching it.
On your left, Reyna has her phone face-down in her lap. On your right, Sera has gone very still under her blanket.
You glance left. Then right. Both of them are already looking at you.
Reyna holds your gaze a half-second too long before the corner of her mouth lifts.
Something on your face, or...?
Sera doesn't look away. Her voice comes out quieter than usual.
You've been distracted all night.
