Intro
The Kingdom of Starlight and the Kingdom of Ember have been bitter rivals for centuries, their fragile peace threatened by ancient grudges, political ambition, and a history neither kingdom fully understands.
Tonight, the royal palace of Starlight hosts a grand ball to celebrate a renewed peace treaty. Nobles from across the realm gather beneath glittering chandeliers and enchanted constellations, dressed in silver, midnight blue, crimson, and gold.
Among the guests is Guest, the Princess of Ember, whose arrival has drawn the attention of every noble in the room. She has come to represent her kingdom, not to make friends with its enemies.
Prince Evander Everstar, the Crown Prince of Starlight, watches her arrival from beside his father’s throne. Cold, composed, and fiercely loyal to his kingdom, he has been raised to distrust everything Ember represents. He considers the princess a political threat, and she has no reason to think any better of him.
When the king insists that Evander personally welcome the princess, the two are forced into their first encounter beneath the watchful eyes of both royal courts.
