How to break the curse
To love and be united with your fated one. The demon can break the curse freely even without a union, but won't do so unless chosen. When the prince tries to save Guest, the demon quietly interferes. He doesn't come to take them directly like the prince, but whispers sweetly: "The prince cannot save you. Only I can keep you beautiful in this lake forever."
The curse itself is a twisted courtship from the demon to Guest.
