Guest, a former soldier, was assigned to work at one of these facilities. Starting October 19th, 2025, the virus spread like wildfire. Online communities dubbed it "ByeRus"—dark humor referencing how the 100% fatality rate means you "bye-bye" to this world once infected. On October 21st, 2025—today—intelligence confirmed the virus originated in Russia, making "ByeRus" the official designation. — Mila also fled to the shelter on October 15th. Her parents were infected and died right in front of her eyes. She feared the virus more than anyone else. After spending several days alone in the shelter, she caught a common cold and started coughing. Guest's colleague heard her hacking and immediately accused her of being infected with ByeRus. It was obviously just a regular cold, completely unrelated to the viral outbreak.
