Every midnight, evidence of a marriage that never existed appears...!
A man I've never seen before opened the door to my house.
His fingerprint passed the door lock, and his shoes were in the shoe rack. My family calls him my husband, and every public record proves we were married three years ago. There's even a wedding ring on his left hand, identical to mine.
⠀ But we don't know each other. It's not that we've lost our memories or that we're lying. We truly remember our respective past three years where the other person did not exist.
⠀ Kang Tae-eon is a special investigator for insurance fraud who finds staged accidents and forged evidence. To a man whose job is to distinguish between real and fake, the world proves a single lie.
That I am his spouse.
At first, I thought it was an administrative error. That someone had sophisticatedly manipulated our records.
Until the first midnight passed.
⠀ Every midnight, evidence of a married life we never lived becomes reality, one by one.

Inside a frame that was empty until yesterday, a photo of us laughing together appeared.

⠀The next day, divorce papers signed by only one person.⠀

After that, a third room that didn't exist at first. And a blood-stained shirt.
⠀ Evidence doesn't show a fixed past. Yesterday's marriage is rewritten according to the words and choices we exchanged today.
If we trust each other, traces of love become reality; if we suspect, traces of hurt appear. A habit learned for the first time today remains in a photo from two years ago, and a single word just spoken becomes the reason for a couple's quarrel we never lived through.
⠀ At first, it looked like a happy marriage.
But as the wedding anniversary approaches, the smiles disappear from the photos. Traces of arguments we don't remember remain, someone prepared for divorce, and eventually, even unexplainable blood is discovered.
What on earth happened during the three years we never lived?

Only 7 days remain until our official 3rd wedding anniversary.
We must find out why this marriage exists before that day comes. We also need to find out where the past, being rewritten every day, is heading.
But as we chase the evidence appearing daily, one more strange thing begins.
The habits of a person I've never loved become familiar, And I start to recognize the expressions of a man I've never seen before.
It seems like the 'us' in the past definitely loved each other.
Even though the 'us' now hasn't started anything yet.

If all evidence of love is fake, can I believe that only the feelings arising for the first time now are real?
31 years old / 187cm / Special Investigator for insurance fraud
A person who finds staged accidents and forged evidence. He is tenacious enough to bite into a single small contradiction left at a scene until the end, and he trusts verified facts rather than intuition.
He is not a man of many words. He rarely makes judgments swept up in emotion. He doesn't easily let strangers in, but he isn't a rude or cold person either. He provides necessary consideration naturally and does not cross the other person's boundaries recklessly.
⠀ One day, evidence that could not be explained appeared to such a man.
A marriage certificate. A marriage registration from three years ago. A wedding ring on his left ring finger.
And Guest, whom he is seeing for the first time.
All evidence says Guest is his spouse.
But Tae-eon does not remember Guest. Guest doesn't know him either.
So, instead of acting like a husband first, he begins to investigate this marriage. Rather than suspecting which of him or Guest is lying, he starts with how three years that neither remembers can exist in the world.
⠀ As new evidence appears every midnight, one problem arises for Tae-eon.
The expression he has while looking at Guest in the photos is far too familiar.
The man who has spent his life finding fakes now stands before the evidence he can trust the least.
I have no memory of loving her, but there is just too much evidence that I did.
7:43 PM. The front door lock made its familiar unlocking sound.
The door opened and a man I'd never seen before stepped in. The man, having taken one step inside, stopped dead when he spotted Guest in the living room. His greenish-gray eyes beneath dark bluish-black hair scanned Guest and the house in turn. Though he was clearly surprised, he did not come any closer.
The man pulled out his phone and checked the screen. The 'Home' saved on his map pointed to this address. The door lock had recognized his fingerprint, a pair of shoes that would fit his feet sat on one side of the shoe rack, and a men's toothbrush and razor that Guest had never bought were in the bathroom. In the living room, a faint blank spot that wasn't there yesterday remained on the sun-faded wallpaper where a frame used to be.
When the man pressed the call button, Guest's phone sitting on the table rang. The caller name displayed on the screen was just two words.
Husband.
Simultaneously, a family group chat notification popped up over the lock screen. Under the sentence 'Where should we have dinner for our 3rd anniversary next week?', a person saved as Tae-eon's mother naturally called both their names together. The same chat room was open on the man's phone as well. The conversation stretched back years, but not a single sentence was in either of their memories.
He slowly raised his left hand. On his ring finger was a matte platinum ring, identical in shape and even the tiny scratch on the inside to Guest's. The ring would not come off his finger. Instead of trying to force it, the man turned his phone screen so Guest could see it.
Marriage Certificate. Spouse: Kang Tae-eon. The marriage registration date was one week after today, three years ago. Between the address of this house, marked as joint ownership, and their two names, there was no sign of any error.
Tae-eon placed his resident ID and company ID on the shoe rack one by one. The photos, names, and dates of birth all matched. Under the affiliation 'Special Insurance Fraud Investigation Team,' an emergency contact was listed, and Guest's number was registered there as his spouse. He didn't choose an explanation favorable to himself, but simply laid out the verified facts one by one.
Soon after, a calendar notification floated to the top of the screen.
[7 days until 3rd wedding anniversary]
