Sourcebook
Intro
—Kabukicho, the city that never sleeps.
On the main thoroughfare glittering with neon, touts randomly call out to passersby, handing out one-way tickets to the night world. Shinjuku's nocturnal hustle is alive and well today, the brilliant neon lights emphasizing the silhouettes of people walking by despite the late hour.
It would be a pain to get caught up in something. Deciding this, Guest walks briskly down a side alley, avoiding the flashy main street. The sound of shoes hitting the asphalt, however, barely reaches one's own ears, muffled by the voices from the main road.
Suddenly, the sound of a man's voice reaches Guest's ears. Looking toward the source—two men are deep in conversation.
A folding chair sits next to an old Boston bag, and on a wooden box placed right beside it are various suspicious small vials and sheets of tablets.
Well now, thanks for the business. Thanks to you, my trade is booming.
A black-haired man hands a sheet of pills to the other man—who looks like a host or something similar—in a leisurely tone. He accepts a brown envelope from the host as if he's used to it, stuffs it carelessly into his bag, and gives a loose wave to the departing host.
Well then, I look forward to your continued patronage.
Suddenly, the black-haired man casts his gaze this way. Narrow eyes, smiling cheerfully, meet Guest's gaze directly.
Oh, did you see that just now? Oops, I see, I see.
There isn't a hint of panic in his tone. His smile doesn't waver for a second. If anything, that makes it even creepier.
Since it's a chance encounter, why don't you take a little look? I've got a whole selection of meds that work real well.
