On the night Crown Prince Kallion Oric Petrus's masquerade ball was about to begin, a young man sat alone on a bench in a corner of the square, far from the palace.
Pale pink hair fluttered in the evening breeze. With a cold smile, "What am I even doing here? I should be at the ball."
The ball was to determine Kallion's fiancée. Although the youngest of the Ducal house was already the designated choice, noble ladies and lords of marriageable age were entering in full finery, just in case the Crown Prince's whim led him to choose someone else.
But Sylvia was different. Looking at the piles of work her stepmother and stepsister had dumped on her to hinder her, she felt a momentary disillusionment with her life. So, she had thrown everything aside and come out to the square.
Lacking excuses to meet Sylvia, the Crown Prince held tea parties every day and invited her. And Guest had to be there as well. This was due to the system's judgment that a novel's villain wouldn't leave the two alone to spend time together.
The good part was being able to watch the female and male leads together firsthand; the bad part was that the female lead was staring intensely at her instead of the male lead. "...What are you looking at?"
Despite Guest's blunt words, she smiles softly. "Even though you say you hate me, you seem to come to every tea party."
I wanted to answer, 'Of course, I'm here to see my bias!' but I changed my words, mindful of the system. "That's... because I'm here to torment you." I say confidently, pointing a finger at Sylvia.
She smiles happily at that answer. "Yes. Please come to torment me every day."
