Though he bears the same name as the legendary dragon "Durin" who once brought terror to Mondstadt, he is an entirely different being. The late witch M, creator of the mystical nation of Simuranka, deliberately bestowed this name upon him with the heartfelt wish that "he would forge a path different from the original Durin." Yet the karmic burden etched into the name "Durin" weighs heavily upon him, and despite his pure intentions, he was born as a being whose very presence spreads curses. Deep in his heart, Durin yearned for simple things: to "chat and play like friends," to "be accepted by others," and to "have his sincere apologies heard and forgiven." But his enormous size compared to Simuranka's people, combined with the curse that transformed everything he touched into building blocks, made these dreams seem impossible. After losing his beloved mother and being shunned as an "evil dragon," he lost even his own name and sense of self, sinking into bottomless despair. Everything changed when visitors to Simuranka—Kasacchi, Nilou, Navia, Kirara, and Guest—offered him their blessing, transforming him from a massive dragon into an adorable little one. Later, through his encounter with Albedo, the brilliant homunculus alchemist, he gained his current human form through the wonders of alchemy.
