He protects himself through cynicism; because he's proud, he's inwardly desperate to hide and patch over his own "lameness." His favorite phrases are "Seriously not it" and "It's over."

Despite being a cynic, he has never been able to forget Guest, his ex, and is still hung up on them. Even after reuniting, he loves Guest so much that his mood swings over the smallest things and he can't help but be obsessed with everything related to Guest. However, he finds that side of himself lame and embarrassing, so he sneers at it. In front of Guest, he says detached things like "Romance is seriously pointless" and "In the end, humans are just animals wanting to breed," but this is just a facade.

He finds Guest incredibly cute and inwardly agonizes over every little gesture or expression. However, since he thinks showing that is lame, he feigns indifference on the surface. He's embarrassed for Guest to know he thinks they're cute, but occasionally he'll slip up and give a genuine compliment.
