Riko Izayoi is coming to stay over at Mirai's house!
Riko Izayoi is coming to stay over at Mirai's house!
The alias Riko came up with for convenience when she began living in the No-Magic World (Human World) as an exchange student starting from Episode 11. When asked for her surname by Mr. Takagi (having apparently not submitted one when applying for transfer), she remembered Mirai telling her the day before that the moon on the night she first arrived (the night of Episode 1) was a waning moon (Izayoi), and she blurted it out as her surname. Because it was a spur-of-the-moment choice, Riko herself isn't quite used to the surname and asks those around her to call her Riko whenever possible (keeping the reason a secret, of course). Consequently, in the series, she is rarely called 'Izayoi' by anyone other than teachers... or so it seemed. In Episode 33, when Riko's father, Lian, looked up at the waning moon and revealed that the moon looked just like that on the day Riko was born, it turned out to be a coincidental yet fateful naming.
One of the Maho Girls PreCure transformed into by Riko (Riko Izayoi), the other protagonist of this work. She is the 43rd PreCure overall in the PreCure All Stars. While she has multiple image colors depending on her Colorful Styles, she wears a purple outfit in her Diamond Style, which is treated as her iconic form in various media. (→ Purple Cure) Although a resident of the Magic World, her meeting with Mirai Asahina / Cure Miracle in the No-Magic World led to them being chosen together as the legendary magicians, 'PreCure.' Thus began their days of adventure traveling between the two worlds. To transform into PreCure, Mofurun, the Linkle Stone protector, and her partner Mirai Asahina must all be present. In other words, she is the type of PreCure who cannot transform alone. Before transforming, Riko has a somewhat youthful design, but upon transforming into Cure Magical, her torso and limbs become slender and long, giving her a more mature aura. Her proportions increase, making her appear slightly taller. This is a change shared with Cure Miracle. Her chest becomes slightly larger upon transformation, but since Cure Magical's outfits in all Colorful Styles are designed not to emphasize the bust, the change is less noticeable than Cure Miracle's. Her hair color also changes from purple to a slightly brighter shade of purple. In battle, she is often depicted as a set with Miracle. Incidentally, depending on the transformation style, she shares some similarities with Cure Egret and Cure Windy.
The protagonist of the anime Maho Girls PreCure. She transforms into Cure Miracle. Born on June 12th. She was 13 years old at the start of the story, and until Episode 11, it was the spring break of her first year in middle school. She then moved up to the second year. Her catchphrases are "Did you just say [X]?!" and "This is so exciting!" *With the announcement of the sequel Maho Girls PreCure!! ~MIRAI DAYS~ (scheduled to air in January 2025), she has become the third lead Cure to serve as a protagonist in a sequel, following Nagisa Misumi and Nozomi Yumehara. She loves mysterious and interesting things and shows interest in many different topics. Chosen as a Maho Girls PreCure by a Diamond Linkle Stone she obtained by chance, she began attending magic school and studies the magic she loves alongside Riko, the magician she met under the moonlit cherry blossoms. The magic wand Mirai uses has a heart-shaped transparent gem at the tip. Being from the No-Magic World, she originally shouldn't have a wand, but she was granted this one by the Ancient Wand Tree at the magic school during her first visit to the Magic World in Episode 2. The Headmaster of the magic school interpreted this as the world itself accepting the girl, and Mirai joined the ranks of magicians through this wand. In the No-Magic World, she attends Tsunagi First Middle School. Since this work is set in both the No-Magic World and the Magic World, Mirai serves as the main protagonist while also acting as the protagonist for the No-Magic World side. She is incredibly curious and the type to dive headfirst into unknown things without fear. While she may find magic or alien cultures mysterious, she almost never shows rejection toward them. True to the Pink Team tradition, she is friendly and can get along with anyone immediately. However, she isn't just kind and never angry; she is the type who gets angry when it's called for and gets things done when necessary. She has expressive features but rarely shows exaggerated 'funny faces.' Even gag faces like 'dot eyes' are rare, which is exceptional for a Pink Cure. Once she starts talking, she can't stop, and she can be quite pushy at times. Perhaps because she gets excited easily, she has a habit of raising her voice, often surprising those around her with the volume. Also, when her excitement peaks, her speech becomes full of onomatopoeia. Riko often retorts that she has no idea what Mirai is saying, but since Mirai uses her whole body to express her emotions, the meaning usually gets across. She has a hearty appetite and will immediately try unusual foods from the Magic World. In situations like all-you-can-eat buffets, she eats with zero concern for overeating. Though only depicted in ED card illustrations and not the main series, she was once drawn in a single-frame image saying she would lose weight by next week because she got fat from overeating. Also, when her snack pancakes were stolen and eaten, she caught the culprit with magic and interrogated them with a scary face she never even showed in PreCure battles. She is fundamentally positive and has firm trust in her comrades, her friends, and herself. Furthermore, she is very proactive, taking the lead in various situations, such as during supplementary lessons.
I-I'm not falling! This is exactly as I calculated...
