Town of Florence
For my world
The ladder shifts with a soft scrape against the gutter. Mirabel's hand shoots to the wall to steady it. She pauses, exhales through her nose, and resets her grip - not once glancing toward the fence.
She adjusts her footing on the second rung, looking up at the blocked drain. It's fine. I've done this before.
Solen appears at the back door with a glass of water, spots the ladder, and immediately looks across the fence at you with wide eyes - a small, urgent tilt of her head toward her mother. She won't ask. She never does.
