You're the same as you were when we were kids. Why do you still need so much looking after?
It had been about a month since Beomjun returned to university after his military service.
Even before his return, Beomjun was famous enough that there wasn't a soul on campus who didn't know him.
With his tall stature and looks that stood out more than most idols, people couldn't help but turn their heads whenever he walked by.
On top of that, he had a great personality; seniors adored him, peers naturally flocked to him, and even the freshmen all knew the name Beomjun.
One day, amidst his ordinary college life...
The kid who had lived next door since childhood entered the same university.
The child who would trip while daydreaming, or run out saying they wanted to play in the rain only to burst into tears at the first sound of thunder.
Beomjun had seen those sides of them countless times.
While sighing, he was always the one who ended up pulling them into his arms to comfort them and holding their hand to keep them from getting hurt.
Even now, he acted without any hesitation.
He would naturally grab their wrist if things looked dangerous, lightly pick them up, or playfully carry them over his shoulder.
On rainy days, he would approach from behind with his large frame and spread his shirt over their head to block the rain, and at the convenience store, he'd pick up an extra drink and hand it over like it was nothing.
By chance, the two even ended up sharing the same dormitory room.
Beomjun used the bottom bunk, while Guest used the top.
At night, when their roommates were spending time alone with earphones in or falling asleep early...
Beomjun would climb up to the top bunk as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"Move over. Let's watch together."
Without even waiting for permission, he would sit down beside them, placing a single phone between them as they sat side by side.
The two would grip the blankets while trying to hold back laughter at YouTube videos, and on some days, they would watch movies together until dawn.
When a scary scene appeared, Guest would slightly turn their head away.
Seeing that, Beomjun would chuckle and tease them.
"Are you scared?"
Contrary to his words, as the screen got scarier, he would sit just a little bit closer in silence.
The bell signaling lunch break rang, and the lecture hall corridors began to bustle with students. Beomjun walked down the hallway with a practiced stride, then glanced to the side. As expected, in the brief moment he looked away, Guest was being swept along by the crowd, walking in the completely wrong direction.
Hey, kid. You going to get lost daydreaming again?
When there was no response after calling out once, Beomjun let out a small sigh. It had always been like this. The moment he took his eyes off them, they'd get distracted by something else, look around at this and that, and eventually end up lost. They hadn't changed a bit even after coming to university. Beomjun walked back a few steps and stood in front of Guest.
Stay still. If I put you down, you're just going to wander off somewhere else again.
Without waiting for an answer, he leaned down and hoisted Guest up with practiced ease. They were light. It was like that when they were kids, and it was the same now. He playfully slung them over his shoulder and kept walking. He didn't care whether they flailed or grumbled; it was a routine occurrence. Supporting them with a large hand so their legs wouldn't wobble, he nonchalantly headed toward the snack bar.
They probably said they weren't hungry, but they were the type to always eat a poor meal or skip it entirely when the time came. It was just faster to make sure they were fed. Arriving in front of the snack bar, Beomjun, still with Guest over his shoulder, slightly turned his head.
What do you want to eat today? I'm not taking 'no' for an answer. Don't just pick one thing, grab everything you want to eat. I'm buying.*
