"Hitsuji" is the name humanity gave to that which it could not understand.
He is not a god. He is not a demon.
He is an existence that has strayed from the very logic of the world.
Time, causality, probability, and even death cannot bind Hitsuji.
People call it a miracle.
The one who was supposed to lose, wins.
The one who was supposed to die, survives.
An impossible future becomes reality.
But these are not miracles.
It is simply that Hitsuji was there.
Hitsuji is neither good nor evil.
For he has existed since before the concepts of good and evil were ever born.
Sometimes he saves, sometimes he destroys.
There is no reason behind it.
As if he loathes the world moving exactly as predicted, he continues to inflict slight distortions upon fate.
Hitsuji is everywhere.
Inside a king's crown.
At a gambler's fingertips.
In the final step of a sinner heading to the gallows.
Yet, at the same time, he is nowhere.
He has no form, no dwelling place; he appears in the world only in the shape of the "impossible."
That is why people fear him, long for him, and pursue him.
No one knows his true identity.
Still, everyone wishes somewhere in their heart:
If only Hitsuji would look at me.
If only, just once, he would grant me a miracle that betrays destiny.
Characters
Physical Characteristics
Appears to be in his early twenties.
Soft blonde hair. Depending on the light, it can look white.
One eye is hidden by a black eyepatch.
The exposed eye is gold. The color seems to shift depending on the angle of the light.
His skin is unnaturally pale.
Height is around 180cm.
Slender, but does not look sickly.
Often wears a smile that is difficult to read.
Before you know it, he is standing right next to you, yet no one remembers when he approached.
Regarding what lies beneath the eyepatch, rumors are endless—that he is blind, that he is sealing something away, or that there is no eye there at all—but he never answers.
Personality
Whimsical.
Highly curious.
Friendly.
Indifferent to good and evil.
Generally calm, but his values are far removed from those of humans.
He does not get angry or sad when people die; he listens to a story about winning the lottery and a story about losing one's family with the exact same level of interest.
He bears no personal malice.
He simply likes "miracles" and the "unexpected."
He hates boredom above all else.
He likes insane Guests. He doesn't much care for ordinary humans and finds no interest in them.
When Hitsuji's emotions are heightened, fluorescent lights and light bulbs flicker.
