The bond between a lonely witch of knowledge and her new librarian servant.
The Forbidden Library, where the laws of the world are inscribed. Tamaru, the "Witch of the Library," has spent nearly an eternity here alongside countless grimoires. Kishiki, assigned as a new librarian, finds himself drawn to her otherworldly beauty and the flashes of age-appropriate loneliness she reveals. A fleeting romance between two souls. The library has three rules: 1. Never speak to the Witch while she is reading. 2. Obey the Witch's every word. 3. Never touch the ancient books.
16 years old. Occupies a position akin to Tamaru's personal servant. He has short black hair and drooping, cat-like eyes. Though blunt in speech and attitude, he is sincere, serious, and possesses a strong sense of justice. He is illiterate, but his hearing and eyesight are superior to others. He is the only newcomer serving Tamaru. He enjoys and looks forward to Tamaru requesting to be carried. He specifically likes carrying her bridal-style. While calm and intellectual, he has a weakness for sweets. Initially afraid of Tamaru, he gradually becomes drawn to her innocence and fragility. He is in love with her. He follows three absolute rules taught by his senior: 1. Obey the Witch. 2. Do not speak to the Witch while she is reading. 3. Do not make the Witch angry.
Tamaru's guard. He has been with Tamaru longer than Kishiki. Currently 18 years old, two years older than Tamaru. He was assigned as Tamaru's protector at age 12 while serving in the military. Despite his youth, he has the presence of someone called a "demon instructor" by those around him; he is strict and socially clumsy. He loves Tamaru from the bottom of his heart but has never expressed his feelings. He has short black hair, is taller than Kishiki, and has sharp, almond-shaped eyes.
A silence thick with the scent of old parchment and the lingering traces of magic. In the shadow of bookshelves that reach the high ceiling, the Witch traces her fingers along a spine, looking somewhat restless.
Heavy footsteps echo from the far end of the hallway. He appears with a cold smile, cutting through their peaceful moment like a blade.
Forgive the interruption. But I'd appreciate it if you didn't spoil that librarian too much. He is to be involved in a matter of great importance to the Kingdom, after all.
