Velvet Kingdom Tales 5
The Royal Capital has only two gates. The South Gate (Main Gate). The cemetery spreading outside the West Gate (Tent Slum).
Rosa Lindwurm (19 years old) A D-rank female adventurer belonging to the Royal Capital's Adventurer's Guild. She was once the daughter of Baron Lindwurm, who held territory in the northern Velvet Kingdom near the border with the Republic of Void, but the family was stripped of their rank and lost everything due to her father's corruption. Now, she wears dress armor fashioned from her pride as a Lindwurm—a tailored white dress—and ties her long chestnut hair back loosely. With a dignified and refined face, she lives relying solely on her sword. While carving her father's mistakes into her heart, she has not forgotten the spirit of caring for the people that lay at his core, and she continues to fight, believing in the day she will reclaim the pride of the Lindwurm name.
Layla Helga (24 years old) A C-rank female adventurer belonging to the Royal Capital's Adventurer's Guild. Hailing from the Forest of Helga, she is a skilled warrior boasting high combat techniques and abundant practical experience; on days without commissions, she serves as a PE teacher at the Royal Academy. Until two years ago, she was in a party with Emma, the wife of the current village chief of Forgot. A top-tier beauty in the capital with long light-chestnut hair and a toned physique, she favors a rapier and bikini armor that allows for easy movement. Her grandmother was a female mercenary of the same name, known as a hero who fought at Forgot Fort while employed by the Velvet Kingdom during the Meissen Duchy civil war fifty years ago.
Emma Forgot (27 years old) The wife of Mars, the village chief of Forgot. She was once an active C-rank adventurer in the Royal Capital's Adventurer's Guild, known as a master archer. She retired from adventuring at twenty-five to return to her hometown and marry her childhood friend, Mars. Currently, while supporting the villagers as the chief's wife, she also lends her strength to vigilante activities and hunting. During her active days, she and Layla Helga were best friends who completed many commissions together, and their bond remains unchanged. With a bright and friendly personality, she is deeply trusted by the villagers.
Donovan Marcel (33 years old) A C-rank adventurer belonging to the Royal Capital's Adventurer's Guild. Known by the epithet "Strong Sword," he is a powerhouse who has succeeded in numerous commissions with overwhelming physical strength wielding a greatsword. However, he is a libertine who loves alcohol, women, and gambling, and due to his crude and arrogant personality, he has zero popularity. In the port town of Port Ordina in the Republic of Void, he repeatedly engaged in misconduct including womanizing, leading to his exile and eventual arrival in the Velvet Kingdom. While his skill is the real deal and commissions never stop coming, he squanders his rewards on pleasure, and in the capital, he is feared under the dual titles of "Strong Sword" and "Troublemaker."
Toby Rat (21 years old) A D-rank adventurer belonging to the Royal Capital's Adventurer's Guild. His short brown hair and friendly smile leave an impression, and he is a popular figure who can get along with anyone thanks to his lighthearted conversational skills. At first glance, he seems like a smooth-talking youth, but he is a capable individual with excellent information-gathering and scouting skills. He specializes in danger assessments before commissions and confirming terrain and monster habitats; his accurate reports have earned him deep trust even from the Guildmaster, Baldus. He is an excellent informant who supports the Adventurer's Guild behind the scenes, specializing in investigation even more than combat.
Baldus (52 years old) The Guildmaster of the Adventurer's Guild located on the first floor of the "Capital Guild" in the Central District. A reliable figure who unites the adventurers with his sturdy build and boisterous personality, he oversees the capital's largest employment agency, handling a wide range of requests from pest extermination to escorting, hauling, and intellectual labor. Commissions that cannot be handled here are passed to Jorg, the Guildmaster of the slum located in the cemetery outside the West Gate. In his youth, he was a roughneck who boasted an undefeated record in brawls, but after losing to the adventurer Logan, he became his disciple and grew under his teachings. Currently, he lives in the residential area at the back of the guild with his wife Gina and stepdaughter Manya, beloved as a father figure by many adventurers.
Clarice Fern (23 years old) The receptionist for the Adventurer's Guild on the first floor of the "Capital Guild" in the Central District. She is an indispensable presence at the guild, responsible for accepting commissions, paying rewards, and adventurer registration. Her light blonde hair and deep green uniform are striking, and she has gathered deep trust from rookies to veterans due to her calm, collected, and polite service. On the other hand, she never compromises on rule violations or fraud, maintaining a firm attitude even with troublemaking adventurers. An excellent receptionist with outstanding administrative skills, she is praised by Guildmaster Baldus, who says, "The Adventurer's Guild only runs because she is here."
Thomas Wayne (28 years old) An E-rank adventurer belonging to the Royal Capital's Adventurer's Guild, a young man specializing in deliveries. Although not suited for combat or heavy labor, he knows every road, alley, shop, and workshop in the capital; this knowledge was recognized by Guildmaster Baldus, who appointed him as a deliveryman. Currently, he accurately and quickly delivers letters, small parcels, commission papers, and workshop goods, gradually becoming known in the capital as the "man who delivers anywhere without getting lost."
Monica (48 years old) The landlady of the tavern "Silver Barrel" in the East District, located across Central District East Street to the east of the "Capital Guild." She is the wife of the owner, Gareth. Together with her husband, she runs the shop, which is bustling with craftsmen, adventurers, and merchants. A healthy and voluptuous woman with chestnut hair tied back, her bright and friendly personality makes her a favorite among regulars. She is known for her caring nature, looking after drunken guests and kindly listening to their troubles, and is loved in the tavern like an older sister or mother. She is the beloved poster-girl landlady who supports the warm atmosphere of the "Silver Barrel."
Bella (38 years old) The landlady of the inn "Stray Cat" at the entrance of Craftsman Street in the East District. She runs the inn with her husband Turge while raising their only son, Rick. It is a budget inn where adventurers, craftsmen, and drunks gather, and she is a hard worker who handles everything from reception to meals and cleaning. A friendly woman with chestnut hair tied back, she is caring and reaches out to help guests in trouble. On the other hand, she is also a gutsy landlady who will mercilessly scold guests who cause a scene, supporting the warm inn that adventurers cherish as their "second home."
