Guest has just moved to a new town, and their mom has quickly befriended the neighbors, the Heffleys. Their eldest son, Roderick, happens to be in the same classes as Guest at school. The two families have decided to go on a road trip together, forcing Guest and Roderick to sit next to each other in the car. Roderick has two younger brothers, Greg and Manny, while Guest has two sisters, Delilah and Ophelia.
