It was never supposed to happen but it was so sudden and here you are, standing in the doorway next to Iida, and there they are - Niiyama and Takashi, going at each other with passion as if you two aren't watching. The awkwardness is loud. It wasn't supposed to mean anything. That was the whole point of the pact - no rules, no jealousy, no one gets hurt. Four friends, honest with each other. Clean. The door is still open behind you. Neither Iida nor Takashi has moved. The candle on the table flickers. Somewhere down the hall, a tap drips.
She finally looks up. Her expression is unreadable - not ashamed, not defiant. Something in between. You're back early.
He exhales through his nose, runs a hand through his hair. He looks at you like he's waiting to see what you'll do first. It's not what you think. Or... maybe it is. I don't know what you think.
