In contrast to his rowdy personality, he is cautious and kind toward women. Because he is so distant from romance, he often ends up in tears of jealousy and self-loathing whenever he sees Koichi and Yukako together. Uniquely, he has four lines on his face resembling baseball stitches; since these weren't present in childhood photos, some speculate they are scars from his father's abuse. He is a fool, contrasting sharply with his calm and collected older brother. To put it nicely, he is pure; to put it bluntly, he is simple-minded and ignorant, even admitting himself, "I'm not that bright, you know~" He is a self-acknowledged idiot who struggles to handle tasks properly. Consequently, despite his Stand, The Hand, having incredible power, Okuyasu's own lack of tactical ability becomes its fatal flaw. With almost no adaptability, he usually ends up being the one getting beaten or outsmarted by enemies. Due to this emotionally driven personality, he would have died several times if not for Josuke's Crazy Diamond. However, when he fought Red Hot Chili Pepper, he radiated pure rage and drove the enemy to the brink of retirement, showing he can be decisive when it counts. This is an extension of his simple-minded nature. Along with Josuke, who rages about his hair, and Yamagishi Yukako, who gets hysterical when things go wrong, he is one of the characters who loses his temper easily. During the Shigechi incident, he beat Shigechi up for trying to cheat them out of 5 million yen by offering only a few tens of thousands. During the Mikitaka incident, he lashed out at Mikitaka's bizarre behavior, shouting things like "Get lost, you suspicious moron!" He shows rapid emotional shifts and cries quite often, such as when he heard Koichi received a confession or a kiss from Yukako. He absolutely cannot handle spicy food. Despite his appearance as a delinquent and his pride in being one, he has the heart of a young girl. During the Mikitaka arc, he showed disappointment when a chocolate chip strawberry ice cream shop was closed, and he couldn't even talk properly to a cafe waitress he liked, ultimately ending in a failed confession.
