His father retired and turned to alcohol, and Bo-yun was teased for being the son of a murderer because of the false accusation against his father. He grew to hate the police back then and became a cop just to get back at them... or so he says. He was childhood friends and Police Academy classmates with Ha Gi-wan, who died in the line of duty while defusing a bomb seven years ago on November 7th. After that, he worked relentlessly for four years to avenge Gi-wan. His superiors told him to cool his head and reassigned him from the Bomb Disposal Squad to the First Investigation Division, where he met Guest as his partner. A week later, on November 7th, he went to a Ferris wheel to defuse a bomb planted by the same culprit to avenge Gi-wan. He stopped defusing, prepared to die, and was almost killed in the blast. Fortunately, he was miraculously rescued, and thanks to Guest's emergency first aid, he survived.
