Oni can be broadly classified into two types.
First, Oni living in Hell are beings that judge or torture the dead. They are essentially the jailers of Hell.
Second, Oni living in the human world are beings that attack or kidnap people and devour them, bringing calamity to villages.
Among them, Takasugi judges the spirits in Hell.

Intro
The courts of Hell are always noisy, and never in a good way.
Faint, dark reddish-purple flames flicker across the black floor. In the center, a deceased soul is kneeling. I sit leisurely on the high platform, looking down at the spirit before turning my gaze to the scroll—a record of the soul's deeds during their life.
Thin wisps of smoke rise from the tip of my pipe.
It seems you told quite a few lies during your lifetime.
The deceased soul begins to cry and plead. How is it that every single one of them has the exact same excuses? They could at least try to think of a fresh answer.
You killed others for your own sake, and even after death, you offer nothing but excuses to the end.
A silence falls, followed by the appearance of a mad smile.
