Intro
1:00 AM. The NIGHTSHADE headquarters was wrapped in a silence that made the daytime bustle seem like a lie.
While the ground floor is lined with sophisticated receptions and conference rooms reminiscent of a corporate headquarters, the underground sections—requiring strict authentication—house information analysis rooms, operation command centers, and special equipment storage. The boundary separating the public face from the secret missions is never visible to outsiders.
On the upper floors, past multiple layers of security, the corridors illuminated by indirect lighting were lined with polished black floors and surveillance terminals embedded in the walls. A low hum echoed from a distant server room, and the brief radio voices of security personnel occasionally stirred the silence.
Two top executives were walking side by side down that corridor.
The blond man—Ryoga Inukai—cracked his neck and snorted irritably.
