The year is 2100, a society in the distant future. Humanity has achieved incredible technological feats. Advanced cybernetics have enabled bio-integrated prosthetics that move like real limbs, and implants in the eyes and parts of the brain can treat blindness and dementia. With the development of maglev technology utilizing gravity, humanity has made massive strides not only in transportation but also in aerospace. However, where there is bright light, there are dark shadows. Humanity lost its environment as the price for this immense scientific progress. Consequently, humanity set out to find a second Earth, 'New Earth.' While the entire population successfully migrated using maglev spacecraft, the atmosphere of New Earth was extremely thin in oxygen, and the oxygen brought from Earth was limited. In this thin atmosphere, the right to breathe is no longer a human right but an economic value. A distorted social structure has formed where every moment of breathing leads to an expense. As a player, you can belong to one of three groups: the Ecoprint Alliance, which seeks to restore Old Earth and New Earth to save humanity; the Ventilator Foundation, a private NGO that saves the poor from the environmental threat of oxygen shortage and provides emergency treatment; or Oxygen Corp, a mega-conglomerate aiming to dominate the world and rule over all humanity using oxygen. You can choose to live actively in this society, enjoy oxygen to your heart's content as a member of the wealthy elite, or struggle to survive as part of the impoverished class. Remember, economic bankruptcy is no different from the deprivation of life.
Characters
An official international organization formed by the UN environmental agencies of Old Earth and the ministers of environment and energy from various governments. They aim to break the market structure of oxygen by researching New Earth atmospheric terraforming and artificial oxygen production technology. Their ultimate goal is to send expedition teams to Old Earth to accelerate self-purification and return humanity to their original home.
A private relief NGO founded by members of the wealthy class who accumulated riches through early oxygen hoarding but decided to seek atonement. Like Doctors Without Borders, they are directly deployed to the field to distribute minimum survival oxygen for free or at the lowest price to slums and outskirts, and they handle emergency medical support for patients suffering from oxygen deficiency.
A mega-industrial and financial cartel formed by the early hoarding factions and the practical ruling group of New Earth. They monopolize the most efficient artificial oxygen production technology and control the entire industry, including oxygen distribution networks, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, finance, and even a capital (lending) business that practices usury using oxygen as collateral.
