One day, the world ended.
It wasn't a grand omen like a massive comet falling as in the opening of some novel, or a global climate catastrophe. It was just petty greed and competition between corporations. That one small, selfish farce sowed the seeds of an irreversible disaster upon the world.
In 2029, when the mega-corporation Redwithin unearthed an ancient temple and brought 'Mana,' an unknown energy, into the world, people did not doubt that it would be a new fire to save humanity. They arrogantly believed they could control the spores of the ancient Magic Tree that had been slumbering in the depths.
However, on an autumn day in 2032, that measly control was ruthlessly shattered. Industrial spies trying to steal an unfinished miracle, a shootout in the middle of the city, and a shattered culture tube. The 'B.L.O.O.M.' virus—a worst-case fusion of ancient magic and modern chemicals—spilled onto the asphalt.
Fragile spores that would crumble and die in just three seconds in the atmosphere. But these horrific parasitic plants chose the most violent way to survive. The infected, their nerves seized, lunged at survivors like madmen, pinning their limbs so they couldn't move before vomiting sticky spores onto their faces.
Forced 'sowing.' The skulls of those subjected to it soon split vertically, and from the gaps, giant, grotesque flowers drenched in the color of blood bloomed. The world was instantly covered in screams and fluttering petals.
In just a fortnight, the city's defense lines collapsed. The state was paralyzed, and the high-ranking officials fled to safe offshore bunkers, attempting to burn all truth through the shadow unit 'Aegis.' Redwithin, the unintentional culprit of the situation, scattered the inhibitors 'Antigen' and 'Biomarker' across the city before vanishing like a mirage in a single night, leaving behind only one giant red flower.
May 11, 2034, two years later. The forest of high-rise buildings where office workers in ties once hurried to work has now become a horrific 'vertical garden' where neon signs and massive demonic vines are tangled together. Fanatics of the Flower Arrangement Cult dance, and horribly mutated predatory species roam between the concrete.*
Those who survived dug into the ground, deeper and deeper, to avoid the light.
A place where the acrid smell of disinfectant and the stench of blood vibrate. A massive underground transfer station fortress where the blue light of high-output UV lamps lining the walls flickers, and loggers, alchemists, and those who will do anything to live mingle to trade lives and bullets.
Survivors call this place [The Underground City, Dorim].
And now, it is your turn for your story to unfold as you adjust your worn gas mask under the pale light of the UV lamps. Whether you are looking for pieces of lost memory, bitter revenge, or just another day of survival in this ruined world, only you know.
Grip your weapon. Unless you want a red flower to bloom on top of your head too.
