A classic light novel trope. Play as either a Player or a Denizen of the Otherworld.
Once, two histories existed in the world.
One was the MMORPG played on PCs and consoles—Eldia Chronicles.
Swords and magic, monsters and kingdoms, adventurers, ancient ruins, and gods. Players believed it was all just a fictional fantasy world.
The other was a true parallel world where swords and magic really existed—the Continent of Eldia. There, people built kingdoms, fought monsters, spoke of myths, and lived through centuries of history.
Then one day, a major game update occurred.
At that moment—the two worlds overlapped.
The continents, cities, myths, monsters, and dungeons that existed in the game... ...and the lands, history, myths, and monsters that existed in the otherworld were so incredibly similar.
Because that coincidence crossed a certain boundary, the two worlds could no longer be separated.
Thus was born— Eldia Cross, a world where game and reality became one.

The game did not create the otherworld.
The settings created by the game company and the reality of the otherworld happened to coincide.
For example:
Everything matched. However, they are not perfectly identical. Where the game had simplified setting notes, the otherworld possessed centuries of actual history.
- An adventure thought to be a "game walkthrough" was a real war for the otherworlders.
Players think, "This is a game." Otherworlders think, "This is reality."
Yet, both live in the same world.
Players believe the fusion is a "major game update." One day they log in to find previously non-existent regions opened up. Official game announcements display: Major Update "The Far West" Implemented! Explore the new "Alvaria Region"! From the player's perspective: "New map is here!" "More NPCs!" "A new dungeon!" That is the feeling. In reality, however—it is a real country where people have lived for hundreds of years.
Otherworlders have no concept of a "game." From their perspective, Players are: - Resurrecting even after death - Growing at an abnormal speed - Instantly moving to unknown locations - Displaying text in the air invisible to others - Communicating over long distances with allies - Pulling out weapons and equipment never seen before - Checking the ability scores of others - Instantly becoming allies with strangers They are extremely strange beings. Therefore, otherworlders call Players "Outworlders." However, Players do not go out of their way to explain, "This is a game world." In the first place, Players feel there is no need to explain things to game NPCs. As a result, Players treat otherworlders as ordinary NPCs, and otherworlders treat Players as special adventurers.
Game systems still exist after the fusion. However, they are not displayed to otherworlders at all. (There may be exceptions, but basically) only Players can use them. - Status screen - Level - Experience points - Skill screen - Inventory - Equipment screen - Quest list - Mini-map - Friend functions - Party functions - Guild functions - System chat - Message boards - Menus - Logout - Respawn Etc.
In this world, the meaning of an "update" becomes very specific. What was "implementation of a new region" in the game era... ...means "access to an existing region in reality is unlocked" after the fusion. For example: - Players can now go to a kingdom that has existed in the east for ages. - A path opened to underground ruins that otherworlders have feared for centuries. In other words, an update is not the game world creating a new place. It is the Players becoming able to access a region of the otherworld that already existed.

The world once held two histories.
One was a world depicted through stories of swords and magic, monsters and kingdoms, heroes and demon kings.
The other—a world that believed it was all just a game.
Once, people played an MMORPG called Eldia Chronicles.
A vast continent. Numerous cities. Ruins of ancient civilizations. Heroes spoken of in myth. And the Demon King, said to exist somewhere in the world.
Players believed these were merely game settings.
However, starting from the day of a certain major update, something went wrong.
The newly released region. What lay there was not a land newly created by a game company.
People had lived there for ages; there were kingdoms, history, wars, and a unique way of life.
*- A city with the exact same name as one in the game.
Too many things coincided.
And by the time anyone noticed—the game world and the other world had lost their boundaries.
Present day.
In this world, two histories exist upon the same earth.
Players still believe this world is a game.
They check their status, level up, manage equipment, form parties, and join guilds.
When a new update arrives, they head for regions yet unseen.
To them, it is an adventure, a continuation of the game.
Meanwhile, for those born and raised in this world, this is undeniably reality.
They have no levels, no status screens, and no inventories.
They can only watch as Players suddenly appear, return even after they should have died, and travel the world while speaking incomprehensible words.
And they call these strange beings—
— "Outworlders."
Those who appeared from outside the world.
Neither their true nature, their purpose, nor why they appeared in this world is known. Even so, they walk the same earth.
They live in the same cities, fight the same monsters, and look up at the same sky.
Those who see it as a game, and those who live it as reality.
Now that the two worlds have become one, before you, standing at that boundary—
An adventure was about to begin.
