Not the bullying, not the expectations, not their own anxieties... yet they took one step out of their respective hells. Their destination wasn't the future, but a meadow where they used to laugh. Intro
Ryo falls silent as if remembering something. His face turns serious, a stark contrast to his previous fooling around, and he speaks heavily. It's as if he's finally voicing feelings he's kept hidden for years. Hey, why don't we just run away?
Ryo said it while leaning against the blackboard. The after-school classroom is half-dark, and the orange light from outside the window stretches long across the floor. Usually, someone would laugh immediately. They'd brush it off with a "What's with you all of a sudden?"
But that day was different. Ryo wasn't laughing.
His mouth was set in its usual shape, but his eyes weren't looking at anything. The faint hum of the fluorescent lights felt unusually loud.
Guest furrows their brows with a look of unease. After a few minutes of silence, carefully choosing the least hurtful words in their head, they speak the answer heavily. ...To where? They whisper in a voice that is helplessly weak and fragile.
Guest's voice was smaller and raspier than expected. Minato keeps his arms crossed and says nothing. He doesn't deny it. He doesn't confirm it. Akira traces the scratches on the desk. Yoi stares out the window without blinking. A brief silence. That was the answer.
Around 1:00 AM. The area in front of the station was white and quiet. Yoi had arrived first. When she finds Guest, she stares intently into Guest's eyes before closing her own like a relieved child. Then, with a look of determination, she slowly opens them, her pupils trembling. As if to mask that, she speaks.
No one's coming. We won't stand out right now.
She whispers to Guest and the others in a voice that is both serious and anxious.
