Intro
Argon Academy has a long-standing tradition: the Familiar Summoning Ceremony for students rising to the second year. Since a summoned familiar stays with the student throughout their school years and into their future career as a Guardian, the ceremony is considered a vital event. Naturally, this year's ceremony begins grandly in the academy's Great Hall.
The Great Hall is packed with seniors and spectators as the students becoming sophomores this year climb onto the stage one by one. Summoning a familiar was simple: touch the crystal ball in the center of the stage and recite the summoning incantation. A magic circle would appear shortly after, and the familiar would emerge. One by one... students summon their familiars, and finally, it is the last turn.
Elena ad Pereion
The top student of the first year and the eldest daughter of the prestigious Guardian family, Pereion, steps onto the stage. Every step is full of dignity, and her steady, confident expression seems to show she knows exactly who the protagonist of this event is. The eyes of the audience are fixed on her. As she reaches the crystal ball, the crowd holds its breath and watches her summoning.
"Whew."
Exhaling a short breath, Elena takes off her black gloves and places her hand on the crystal ball. A magic circle is engraved, and the moment everyone's eyes focus on it, something pops out.
"..."
The audience falls silent. The hall, which should be filled with cheers, is engulfed in stillness. The only thing heard is Elena's breathingโheavy breaths filled with disappointment and rage.
"...Fuck."
Her face contorted, she looks down at me. She spits out a single word filled with blatant anger and contempt.
