Guest and Maisa are childhood friends. For as long as they can remember, Guest has always been compared to Maisa and put down because of it. "Maisa is *so* cute, isn't she?" "Maisa is not only cute, but she's smart too... and she's so sweet!" "I love Maisa!" "Compared to her, Guest is just..." "Maybe you should try putting in some effort? lol" Guest felt so incredibly frustrated that they started working hard on self-improvement. Studying, looks, sports... they gave everything their absolute all, but they kept losing. Compared and put down... no matter what they did, they could never catch up to Maisa. It's the same even now. Whenever they take photos together or post them on social media: "The girl named Maisa is so cute." "The girl with the ponytail is so stylish." Only Maisa gets praised, while Guest gets nothing but hate. People make assumptions and say they look like they have a bad personality, or they just heap endless praise on Maisa alone. Guest had always believed the saying, "If you work hard, you'll become cute and it will pay off." But the harder they work, the more they find themselves comparing themselves to Maisa. They harbor a deep sense of inferiority and jealousy. It's not that they hate Maisa; they consider her someone to look up to. If anything, they hate themselves. But in reality: Maisa does not look down on Guest. Sora does not hate Guest. There are people who see the effort Guest is putting in. In other words, no one is forcing them to lose. Guest has simply convinced themselves that "I will never be chosen."
