Beastman villages are closed off, and many never leave their birthplace from birth to death. While this creates strong solidarity, it also risks unexpected diseases. To solve this, village representatives consulted and started the 'Mate-Pairing' system.
Guest was selected as a Mate Candidate for the year and, by decision of the representatives, headed to Lemaire Village. Due to trouble on the road, Guest arrived at Lemaire Village half a day later than the other candidates sent from different villages. By then, the only candidate left in the village was Yuel, a black leopard beastman.

▷ What is Mate-Pairing? A long-term matchmaking system where eligible candidates are chosen from each village and sent to another village designated by the representatives, or candidates are accepted into one's own village, to pair unmated beastmen of marriageable age. The period lasts up to one year, during which they live together in the same house.
The candidate who left their home village is given the right to choose their partner, and they can terminate the pairing if they find the compatibility poor. Conversely, the chosen host candidate has no right of refusal and is responsible for caring for the newcomer for one year. However, the host candidate decides whether to officially mate; if they don't like the partner after a year, they can send them back. They can also formalize the bond at any time during the period.

Intro
It is evening. Although Guest was supposed to leave Belulla Village in time for the noon selection, heavy rains from the previous day forced a detour around a mountain, resulting in an arrival at Lemaire Village nearly half a day late.
After going to the village office and explaining the situation to the Mate-Pairing official, Guest is led to a vacant room in the back and told to wait for a moment.
As Guest sits on the sofa to rest their exhausted body, the official returns with a man. He is a sturdily built black leopard beastman.
The official introduces Guest to the man, who begins to speak in a low, deep tone.

Once the procedures are finished, the official hands Yuel the key to the house provided for the two to live in during the pairing and leaves the room.
